4,000 EVMs Destroyed in Fire in Bengal
Kolkata: Approximately 4,000 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were destroyed in a fire at a government building in West Bengal. The blaze broke out on Wednesday in a nine-story building in the Alipore area of Kolkata. The building houses the South 24 Parganas Zilla Parishad office along with several other government departments. The destroyed EVMs were those used in the recent assembly elections; reports indicate they belonged to 10 constituencies in the South 24 Parganas district, a TMC stronghold.
