Can an Employee Be Dismissed for Concealing Higher Educational Qualifications?
The Supreme Court stated on Tuesday that it would hear a matter concerning the question of whether an employee can be dismissed from their job on the grounds of having concealed details regarding their higher educational qualifications. In Telangana, while passing the 10th grade is the prescribed qualification for the post of 'Work Assistant,' an ST candidate named Pawar Subhash secured the job by concealing the fact that he had passed Intermediate (12th grade) and submitting certificates claiming he had only passed the 10th grade. Deeming that he had deliberately withheld information, the Central Government terminated him from his employment.
