Reservoirs Running Low!
Hyderabad: Depleting water levels in the reservoirs across the Krishna and Godavari river basins are becoming a cause for serious concern. Compared to the same day last year (May 31, 2025), water storage levels in several reservoirs appear alarmingly low. Given the forecasts predicting only "normal" rainfall this season—largely due to the influence of the El Niño phenomenon—there is a distinct possibility that the state could face severe shortages in both drinking water and irrigation supplies. It is feared that disputes are likely to escalate, primarily centering on the Krishna River basin, which is a deficit basin.
