Will IT officials check your WhatsApp and email?
Recently, news has been circulating on social media that officials will check taxpayers' WhatsApp and emails from April 2026. However, experts say that Section 247 of the Income Tax Act 2025 was introduced only for tax evaders. It was stated that the old law has been modified to suit the digital age, allowing the digital data of those who do not respond to notices or conceal their income to be checked only with court permission and a valid reason.
