Alert for Motorists: New Rules Effective Tomorrow
Starting tomorrow, the Central Government will implement a new toll collection rule applicable to vehicles traveling with an overload on National Highways (NH). Fines will be levied based on the excess weight a vehicle carries beyond its permissible limit. If the overload is within 10%, no fine will be imposed. If the overload ranges between 10% and 40%, the vehicle owner must pay twice the standard toll rate; if it exceeds 40%, they must pay four times the standard rate. These fines will be collected exclusively through FASTag. However, no fine will be levied if the toll plaza lacks the necessary equipment to measure vehicle weight.
