Write the Capital as AMARAVATI
The government has issued a memo directing that the name of Andhra Pradesh's capital—Amaravati—must be recorded as "AMARAVATI" in all government records. Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad issued the memo, instructing that whenever the capital's name is written in English, it must be spelled specifically as "AMARAVATI," rather than any other variation. The Municipal Administration Department noted that it had already issued G.O. 97, directing Secretariat departments, Heads of Departments (HODs), District Collectors, and other agencies to write "Amaravati" as "AMARAVATI" when using the English script.
