Iran has issued a warning, stating that it will destroy US vessels with missiles if the United States attempts to assert control over the Strait of Hormuz. Mohsen Rezaei, an advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, asserted that US warships would sink to the bottom of the sea following just a single missile strike from their side. He stated that if the United States were to launch a ground attack, they would take the country's soldiers hostage. He remarked that a ransom of one billion dollars would have to be paid to secure the release of each individual soldier.
