Andhra Pradesh: The apple crop, which is mostly grown in cold places, has now spread to Rayalaseema. Farmers are cultivating it in Anantapur (D) Garladinne, Kundurpi and Peddappur mandals. They have planted orchards in 15 acres. The trees that came into bloom in December have now started bearing fruits and are ready for harvesting. Farmers say that the yield is one ton per acre and it is fetching ₹120-170 per kg. They are also selling it in gift packs under the name ‘Ananta Apple’.
